What St Katharine Drexel Catholic Church does
St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Parish is a nonprofit Catholic parish located at 2501 South Post Road in Weston, Florida, operating under the authority of the Archdiocese of Miami. The parish serves registered parishioners in the Weston area through Catholic sacramental ministry, faith formation, and community fellowship, offering daily and weekend Masses in three languages (English, Spanish, and Portuguese) to serve the multicultural South Florida demographic. The parish operates more than 50 ministry groups organized across five pillars — Formation, Liturgy, Parish Life, Pastoral Care, and Spirituality — and maintains a 24/7 Perpetual Adoration chapel, a children's faith formation program, and an adult OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) program. The parish is led by Pastor Fr. Omar Ayubi V.F. and Parochial Vicar Fr. Michele Sega, supported by a staff of approximately 11 named personnel including a Parish Manager, Religious Education Coordinator, Director of Music, and administrative assistants.
The parish's technology footprint consists of off-the-shelf vendor tools: Parish Mate for website content management (skdrexel.org) and ParishSoft for online giving and parish operations management. Distribution channels include in-person worship, YouTube-based online Mass broadcasts, a homebound communion ministry for sick and elderly parishioners, and an e-commerce religious goods store (SKD Religious Store) hosted on a third-party platform. The business model is a hybrid nonprofit structure with stewardship donations as the primary revenue stream (collected via envelopes, online credit/debit card, Google Pay, and bank transfers), supplemented by modest fee-based revenue from OCIA program enrollment ($125 per participant), website sponsorship from local businesses ($50/month per banner), suggested donations for funeral Mass services ($300 plus $200 for musician honorariums and $50 for livestream), and e-commerce proceeds that include a donation-back-to-parish component. Strategic partners include the Archdiocese of Miami (governance), ParishSoft and Parish Mate (technology vendors), the Knights of Columbus Council #14212 (fraternal organization), and the St. Vincent De Paul Society (food pantry partner).
