South West Sports Centre

What South West Sports Centre does

South West Sports Centre is a community sports and recreation facility located at 1 Rotary Avenue, Hay Park, Bunbury, Western Australia, wholly owned and operated by the City of Bunbury local government as part of its Sport and Recreation services. The centre provides public pool and gym access, group fitness classes led by experienced instructors, and a learn-to-swim program—delivered by AUSTSWIM-certified instructors through the Little Lappers Swim School—that covers all ages from Aquababies to adults, including programs suited to varied abilities and sensory needs via Quiet Access Sensory Sessions.

The facility's technology foundation is the Jonas Leisure platform, which powers the Member Portal for online enrollment, group fitness class booking, squash court reservations, and membership management. Marketing and community engagement occur through the centre's website, Facebook, and Instagram, plus an email newsletter; no paid advertising channels are in use. The centre is not a private commercial entity and has no outside investors—it is funded through council rates and user fees.

The business model is direct-to-consumer membership and casual visitation, with no lock-in contracts or cancellation fees designed to lower acquisition friction. The primary customer segments are general community members seeking fitness and recreation, and families with children enrolled in learn-to-swim. Marketing channels are organic-only, and revenue is not publicly disclosed.
