TRIVIUM PREPARATORY ACADEMY

What TRIVIUM PREPARATORY ACADEMY does

Trivium Preparatory Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades 6-12 in Goodyear, Arizona, operating within the Great Hearts Academies network. The school delivers a classical college-preparatory curriculum built on Socratic dialogue, original texts, and the Western Civilization tradition, guided by the Latin motto Verum, Pulchrum, Bonum (Truth, Goodness, Beauty). Coursework spans literature, composition, history, mathematics through calculus, laboratory sciences, and language study in Latin, Greek, Spanish, and French, supplemented by athletics, fine arts, a House mentorship system, and college counseling. Reported student outcomes include SAT scores hundreds of points above state and national averages and over $5 million in merit-based scholarships earned by the Class of 2025. The school holds a Purple Star School designation from the Arizona Department of Education and Title I status under ESSA.

The school's revenue model is structured around Arizona per-pupil public charter school funding rather than direct tuition, with ancillary fee processing handled through a Configio-powered parent payment portal and fundraising via a dedicated Donate page. Its go-to-market is enrollment-led: families apply through the centralized Great Hearts SchoolAxis system, with prospective families driven through a funnel that includes virtual tours, on-campus tours, the network's website, and a Constant Contact interest list. Supporting infrastructure includes PowerSchool for student information, Google Calendar for events, and a Friday Flash newsletter for current families. The school's catchment is concentrated in Goodyear, Avondale, Litchfield Park, and the west Valley of Phoenix, with a feeder pipeline from the affiliated Archway Trivium K-5 campus creating a continuous K-12 classical track. Operationally, Trivium is governed as a nonprofit public charter school under the strategic umbrella of Great Hearts Academies, with a local school board and Headmaster Michael Johnson listed as the senior on-site leader.
