Yoga Evolution Retreats

What Yoga Evolution Retreats does

Yoga Evolution Retreats is a privately held, founder-owned yoga and wellness retreat center operating from a single 13-hectare (also cited as 7-hectare) forest site in Bacelo, Amieira, Oleiros, Castelo Branco, central Portugal, with a UK correspondence address in Moreton, Wirral. Founded in 2008 by Peter Askew and Sue Billington — both Senior Yoga Teachers accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals UK — the company runs week-long residential retreats (6 nights, 5 days) with twice-daily classes blending Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Somatic, Ashtanga, Qigong, meditation, shamanic practices, and sound healing gong baths. The site includes a purpose-built wooden Shala, treatment room, saltwater swimming pool, stone cottages, guesthouses, and eco caravans, supported by a small in-house team of two founders plus a workshop facilitator, two additional yoga teachers, and a housekeeper.

The business generates revenue primarily through direct-to-consumer bookings of all-inclusive retreat weeks at £550–£950 per person depending on accommodation tier (eco caravan through veranda with private bathroom), with optional paid add-ons including €50/hour massage therapy, herbal walks, soap-making, and incense workshops. A secondary revenue line is a 100-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training course priced at £1,100 and accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals UK, targeted at qualified yoga teachers and bodywork professionals. The company holds Portuguese Registered Tourism Licence No. 20102/AL. Booking is direct via the company website, email, phone, WhatsApp and Telegram, with a £150/£300 non-refundable deposit, balance due 28 days before arrival, and a 10% returning-guest loyalty discount.

The company has no proprietary technology, no mobile app, no API, and no disclosed use of AI or automation; operations and guest experience are entirely human-delivered. Marketing is conducted through the company website, Facebook, Instagram, email newsletter, TripAdvisor (Certificate of Excellence 2020), and Google Reviews, with a logistical partnership with Rede Expressos coach service for airport transfers. The company has no external institutional investors, no subsidiaries, no M&A history, and no disclosed funding rounds; it operates as an independent family-run retreat business.
