Kairos Prison Ministries

What Kairos Prison Ministries does

Kairos Prison Ministry International is a 501(c)(3) Christian nonprofit (EIN 59-1970458) founded in 1976 and headquartered at 100 DeBary Plantation Blvd, DeBary, Florida. The organization delivers a portfolio of three distinct programs to populations affected by incarceration: Kairos Inside, a prison ministry that develops Christian community inside correctional facilities through 3.5-day weekend experiences; Kairos Outside, which provides spiritual and community support for spouses, parents, and relatives of incarcerated individuals; and Kairos Torch, a mentoring program for incarcerated youth ages 25 and under. Together these programs are operating in over 500 locations across 37 US states and 9 countries, with a current active program count of 398 (Kairos Inside Men: 257, Kairos Inside Women: 53, Kairos Outside: 66, Kairos Torch: 22).

The core operational technology is a volunteer-driven ministry model: trained volunteer teams enter correctional facilities to deliver in-prison programming and operate community-based support programs for families and youth. The organization holds four registered trademarks covering its program and organizational brands. Distribution is direct to correctional facilities and community sites; no software platform or digital product is offered to end users, and the website serves primarily as information, volunteer-recruitment, and donation infrastructure. Marketing and outreach are conducted through the website, a quarterly supporter newsletter, a prayer network, and church and faith-community partnerships.

Kairos generates no fee-based revenue. As a registered religious nonprofit, it relies entirely on tax-deductible charitable contributions and operates with 11-50 employees. Its go-to-market motion is community-led, scaling through volunteer recruitment, church partnerships, and word-of-mouth rather than paid acquisition. The organization celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2026 and is extending its youth program internationally, with a Kairos Torch #1 Weekend scheduled in KwaZulu-Natal Westville, South Africa on June 12, 2026.
