Lifespring

What Lifespring does

Lifespring is a UK-registered charity (Charity Number 1160962) operating as an evangelical Christian church community based at The Drill Hall, Denne Road, in central Horsham, West Sussex. Its functional offering centres on Sunday worship services (10:30am and 6:00pm in-person plus YouTube livestream) supported by a programme stack that spans Crèche through Youth (Lifespring Kids for ages 1 to Year 6, Lifespring Youth for ages 11-18), small-group community (Lifegroups), newcomer pathways (OneTRACK), faith exploration (Alpha), a two-year Bible school (Into The Word), a parent-toddler stay-and-play group (Lifespring Explorers at £2/child), and a CAP Horsham Debt Centre delivering free debt counselling and financial education through the Christians Against Poverty partnership. Pastoral care, volunteer mobilisation (OneTEAM), and venue hire of The Drill Hall for community events round out the offering.

The underlying technology layer is standard third-party infrastructure rather than proprietary product: ChurchSuite handles membership, event registration, Alpha sign-ups, and donation processing; ChurchCenter supports volunteer engagement forms; Jovo is deployed as a church-specific communication app (iOS, Android, desktop); MailChimp handles email; YouTube and Vimeo host livestreamed and on-demand video; Google Analytics tracks web usage; and MailChimp/ChurchSuite data is exchanged under confidentiality agreements. PCI DSS compliance is maintained for card donations, and GDPR plus parental consent (COPPA-equivalent under-18 safeguards) govern data handling.

The revenue model is donation-led for a UK charity: voluntary giving via standing orders, one-off gifts, cash/cheque, and online portal, supplemented by Gift Aid (25% HMRC uplift on eligible donations) and rental income from community hire of The Drill Hall (weddings, funerals, and private parties are explicitly excluded). Go-to-market is community-led, event-driven, and direct-to-consumer in equal measure, relying on physical presence at the Drill Hall, the website (wearelifespring.church), Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, the Jovo app, Alpha courses, and word-of-mouth referrals. Leadership comprises Senior Pastor Jos Wintermeyer and Pastor Dan Young, supported by named functional leads and a trustee board chaired by Michaela Sargeant with Jonathan Sheldon as Treasurer; the organisation is independent with no parent company or external investors.

Others

• Alpha International: Alpha is the originator of the Alpha Film Series and course framework Lifespring delivers; while not a competing church, it is the upstream content and brand provider that defines Lifespring's evangelism methodology.
• Evangelical Alliance UK: UK-wide representative body for evangelical Christians of which Lifespring is a member; not a competing church but a sector-level affiliation and advocacy peer.
• ThirtyOne:Eight: Independent Christian safeguarding organisation of which Lifespring is a member and whose ten safeguarding standards Lifespring adopts; an enabling/compliance peer rather than a competitor.

Broad incumbents

• Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB): HTB is the London-based evangelical church that created the Alpha course which Lifespring runs; it operates a wider portfolio of church plants, conferences and the Alpha International network, making it the originating peer for Lifespring's evangelism model.

Direct peers

• ChristCentral Churches: Lifespring is affiliated with ChristCentral Churches and runs its 'Into The Word' Bible school; ChristCentral is a UK-wide network of charismatic evangelical churches of broadly similar size and model, making it the closest network peer.
• KingsGate Church (Peterborough): KingsGate is a ChristCentral-affiliated UK charismatic evangelical church of comparable size that also runs Alpha, Lifegroups, kids and youth work — a directly comparable church operating the same playbook at similar scale.
• Gateway Church London: Gateway is a ChristCentral-network church running Alpha, kids/youth programmes and mid-week small groups in a similar evangelical charismatic style; directly comparable in operating model to Lifespring.
• Christians Against Poverty (CAP UK): CAP UK is Lifespring's debt-counselling and money-coaching partner running the Horsham Debt Centre; as a national church-based social-action charity it is the closest functional peer to Lifespring's CAP-driven community outreach.

Regional players

• St Mary's Church Horsham: The principal Anglican parish church in Horsham town centre; competes for the same local congregants within the Horsham Churches Together ecumenical grouping of which Lifespring is also a member.
• Horsham Baptist Church: Another Horsham Churches Together member operating from the same town; an evangelical but Baptist-tradition peer competing for overlapping Sunday-attendance seekers in the same geography.
