What new dawn studios does
New Dawn Studios is a private, founder-owned film and HD video production services company based in Monterey, California, established in 1989 by William Roden. The firm provides end-to-end production services — camera, sound recording, lighting and grip, on-location shooting, and post-production — primarily to commercial, broadcast, corporate, and institutional clients. It operates from multiple Central Coast locations (Monterey, Pacific Grove, and Carmel) and runs Monterey Lighting and Grip as a parallel sub-brand for crew and equipment rentals.
The company's service portfolio spans custom video production, equipment rentals for third-party productions, licensable stock photography, sound recording, and presentation services. Specialized niches include Stereoscopic 3D production and Aviation photography, suggesting targeted vertical extension beyond general commercial work. The firm lists an unusually broad national client roster including CNN, ESPN, BBC, PBS, The Golf Channel, HGTV, National Geographic Publishing, HarperCollins, IBM, AT&T, VISA, Toyota, Lexus, Kleiner Perkins, TED, the Dalai Lama, Community Hospital Monterey Peninsula, Dole, and Earthbound Farms.
New Dawn Studios operates a direct sales model with quote-based project pricing and pay-as-you-go engagement, implying episodic, project-driven revenue rather than long-term contracted subscriptions. The business is asset-light in software terms but capital-intensive in physical production equipment (lighting, grip, camera, sound). There is no disclosed headcount, no outside funding, and no public financial reporting; the firm appears to operate as a small, closely-held services business sustained by long-tenure client relationships and regional production expertise.
