Vertical AI healthcare companies build AI models as the core clinical or scientific product, not as a feature bolted onto existing hospital or pharma software. On this list that splits into four segments: AI drug and biologics discovery (molecule, antibody and gene-editor design), AI clinical documentation and ambient scribing, AI diagnostics and care coordination, and AI-native specialty EHR and revenue-cycle automation.
That distinguishes the category from general digital health, where software digitizes an existing workflow (scheduling, billing, telehealth video) without an AI model doing the clinical or scientific work itself. A company only qualifies here if the AI model is what a partner or provider is actually buying.
The economics split along the same line: the discovery-side companies monetize almost entirely through pharma licensing and royalty deals on drug candidates, while the clinical-workflow companies (documentation, diagnostics, EHR) sell direct subscriptions to hospitals and health systems. Both appear in the revenue model column, and neither dominates the count evenly — discovery outnumbers clinical workflow roughly 2 to 1, per the takeaways above.
Excluded from this list: companies where healthcare is a secondary vertical alongside materials, energy or consumer markets; life-science lab hardware and instrument makers where AI is one feature among many; and real-world-data networks whose core product is a data platform rather than an AI model. The full exclusion list, with reasons, is in the methodology below.
Companies are tagged against standard industry codes and against akta.pro's internal taxonomy, so the same set can be rebuilt by code, by segment, or by a combination of both.
NAICSIndustry codes are provided for cross-referencing against public filings and procurement records. akta.pro classification is independent of them, so a company may carry an internal segment without a matching NAICS or SIC registration.
