What Anchor Fence Contractors does
Anchor Fence Contractors, Inc. is a privately held, veteran-owned and family-operated fencing installation company founded in 1999 and headquartered at 115 Patterson St, Hillsdale, New Jersey. The company installs perimeter and security fencing for residential and commercial customers across Bergen County, NJ, with additional licensing in Rockland County, NY. Its service portfolio spans wood, vinyl/PVC, ornamental aluminum and metal, and chain link fencing, plus fence repair and ancillary home products such as driveway gates and post caps; all installation work is performed by direct employees rather than subcontractors, with project-based, quote-on-estimate pricing and free in-home consultations.
The business operates on a direct-to-consumer and direct-to-SMB go-to-market model, sourcing materials from established manufacturers including Bufftech, Illusions, Alumi-Guard, Iron World, and Eastern Wood Fence. Revenue is generated one project at a time through on-site estimates, with customer acquisition driven primarily by a company website, customer testimonials, and word-of-mouth referrals rather than paid advertising. The company emphasizes honesty, craftsmanship, and full licensing as its differentiation in a fragmented local services market.
Operational scale is modest: 11-50 employees, thousands of feet of fencing installed per year, and a single regional service area. The company holds NJ Home Improvement Contractor License #13VH00674300 and NY Rockland County License #H-10963-12-00-00, received the Angie's List Super Service Award in 2013, and has no disclosed external funding, partnerships, or institutional ownership. There is no evidence of proprietary technology, AI/ML capability, app products, or digital platform beyond a marketing and lead-generation website.

Anchor Fence Contractors competitors and assessment
Company assessmentOthers
- ActiveYards: Vinyl and aluminum fence manufacturer operating a dealer/installer network. Comparable as a supplier ecosystem participant whose products compete with Bufftech and other brands Anchor already installs.
- Jerith Aluminum Fence: Aluminum fence manufacturer supplying ornamental aluminum products to installers. Comparable as a fence product supplier positioned similarly to Alumi-Guard and Iron World used by Anchor.
Regional players
- Northland Fence: Minnesota-based fence installation specialist serving residential customers with similar material offerings. Comparable due to similar service categories and installer-driven model, though serving a different regional market.
- Frederick Fence: Mid-Atlantic (Maryland/Pennsylvania/Virginia) fence installer offering wood, vinyl, aluminum, and chain link for residential and commercial customers. Comparable because of similar product mix and regional specialty contractor model, though geographically separate from Anchor.
Broad incumbents
- Master Halco: North America's largest distributor of fencing products with installation services across residential and commercial segments. Comparable because it operates in the same fence installation and supply category at national scale.
- Lowe's Installation Services: National home improvement retailer with fence installation services marketed to homeowners. Comparable as a competing channel that can divert consumer fence leads away from local specialists like Anchor.
- Home Depot Installation Services: National home improvement retailer offering fence installation via third-party contractors. Comparable as a competing channel for homeowners shopping for fence installation in Bergen County.
Direct peers
- Superior Fence & Rail: Multi-state residential and commercial fence installation franchise operating in the Southeast and beyond. Comparable because it sells and installs the same core fence types (wood, vinyl, chain link, aluminum) through a similar employee-based model.
