What Innovative Marine does

Innovative Marine is a Cerritos, California-based manufacturer of premium saltwater aquarium systems and supporting equipment, operating as a subsidiary of Yimco, Inc. and founded in 2011. The company sells directly to consumers through its e-commerce site and through a network of authorized local fish stores, online specialty retailers (Bulk Reef Supply, Saltwateraquarium.com, Aquacave, Premium Aquatics, The Hidden Reef), and an exclusive Canadian distributor (Aquarium Depot). Its core market is hobbyist saltwater and reef aquarium keepers in the US and Canada, with a secondary commercial segment for larger display systems.

The company's product platform centers on the NUVO aquarium brand family, which spans five tank styles (Starter Kits, Fusion Pro 2, SR Pro 2, EXT external-overflow, INT internal-overflow) plus Made-to-Order custom systems from 112 to 240 gallons. Supporting the tanks are NUVO APS aluminum stands, NUVO RFS reef sumps, and the AUQA Gadgets accessory line, which includes protein skimmers, return pumps, wavemakers, UV sterilizers, media reactors, and feeding tools engineered to fit NUVO rear filtration chambers. Proprietary technologies include the Helio PTC solid-state ceramic heater, the Bean Animal 3-drain overflow system, the reinforced double-walled acrylic RFS sump, and the NUVO Roller PRO automated fleece filter.

Revenue is generated through one-time hardware sales across a wide price band — from entry-level Starter Kits to high-ASP custom MTO systems priced at 50% off MAP — supplemented by extended warranty programs (3-year standard for NUVO aquariums and stands, up to 5-year for MTO and Helio heaters), a Blemished Tanks channel, and Certified Pre-Owned accessories. Customer financing is integrated at checkout via Affirm (0% APR up to 12 months for qualified applicants) and Afterpay (6-month installments on purchases $99-$2,000). A 30-day risk-free trial on first-time aquarium-and-stand purchases and free standard shipping over $49 support conversion. The company claims over 500,000 satisfied NUVO aquarium owners cumulatively across its history.
