What About Design does
About Design (어바웃디자인) is a South Korean industrial design and engineering firm founded in 2019, headquartered in Seongnam (Bundang-gu, Gyeonggi-do) with a secondary office in Incheon. It operates as a project-based B2B consultancy, positioning itself as a Total Design Solution Provider that combines industrial design with engineering know-how. Its work is organized across five verticals: Living & Life, Medical, Industrial, Robotics & Mobility, and Space/Interior design, covering consumer goods, healthcare devices, industrial equipment, mobility/robotics, and built-environment clients.
The firm's commercial model is direct B2B consulting engagement: clients retain the firm for design and engineering deliverables on a project basis. It holds the Korean Good Design Mark (굿디자인 마크) and is certified as an Industrial Design Professional Company (산업디자인 전문회사 인증) by the Korea Design Promotion Institute — credentials that are procurement-relevant but not exclusive. It markets itself through an Instagram channel and a digital brochure, with no evidence of paid acquisition, partner channels, or international outreach.
The public footprint is thin. There is no disclosed founder or management team, no headcount, no funding history, no named customer logos, no press coverage, and no technology stack disclosure. The firm shows no AI/ML capabilities and no proprietary tooling or platform architecture; the offering is human design and engineering labor rather than productized software. As a result, observable scale signals are limited to the dual South Korean office footprint and the breadth of the five-sector portfolio.
