What BUILDERS MILLWORK & SUPPLY, INC does
Builders Millwork & Supply, Inc., operating as Spenard Builders Supply (SBS), is an Alaska-based building materials supplier and operating division of Builders FirstSource, Inc. (NASDAQ: BLDR). Founded in 1952 and headquartered in Anchorage, the company sells building materials, windows, doors, cabinets, tools, moulding, and countertops across statewide Alaska, from Utqiagvik to Sitka. It serves residential builders, commercial builders, government institutions, specialty contractors, remodelers, and do-it-yourselfers through physical showroom locations, a direct sales force, a corporate account portal (mybldr.com), and statewide delivery including rural communities.
The company's core technology centers on custom millwork fabrication and a proprietary Panel Plant that produces 4-foot modular wall panels weighing under 100 lbs, enabling two-person assembly without heavy equipment. It offers factory-built cabin kits (Caribou Cabin, Black Bear, Grizzly Bear, Kodiak Bear) and the Alaska At Home program of Arctic-engineered home packages with R-34 to R-47 insulation. In 2024, the company launched the Yukon Series Windows, a private-label window line built for Alaska conditions. Services include custom door fabrication (matching existing hinge/lockset patterns), trusses, wall panels, installation, interior design, freight/logistics, and financing.
Revenue is generated primarily through one-time product sales of building materials and prefab cabin/home packages, supplemented by professional services (installation, design, design-build). Pricing is quote-based across all tiers. The company is backed by Builders FirstSource, Inc., a national building products conglomerate, providing procurement scale, supply chain integration, and capital access that independent Alaska competitors cannot match. No revenue, headcount growth, or funding data is disclosed in the available sources.
