Incimal

What Incimal does

Incimal is a 100% Quebec-owned family business established in 1993 and headquartered in Berthierville, Quebec, operating as a specialized pet funeral and cremation service provider. The company serves individual pet owners and veterinarians throughout Quebec with end-of-life services for companion animals including dogs, cats, horses, and small animals. Its core service offerings span private cremation, assisted private cremation (with family attendance), communal cremation, horse cremation, pet conservation, aquamation (water-based alkaline hydrolysis as an eco-friendly alternative to flame cremation), and prearrangement of future end-of-life services. The company also operates a Virtual Cemetery — an online memorial platform — and provides grief support resources including bereavement counselor referrals.

The underlying technology is operational rather than software-based: traditional flame cremation equipment paired with aquamation hydrolysis systems. Incimal complements its services with a 300+ SKU memorial product catalog including ceramic, brass, marble, wood, and biodegradable urns; paw print keepsakes; commemorative glass pendants and sterling silver bracelets containing ashes or fur; wall plaque montages; and exclusive Quebec-made eco-products such as the ROOTS biodegradable urn (recycled coffee grounds, lime, and clay with embedded tree seeds) and the Océanne gelatin-and-sand urn. Pricing for memorial products ranges from $24 CAD for body bags to roughly $370 CAD for premium jewelry sets; cremation service pricing is not publicly disclosed.

The business model combines direct-to-consumer service delivery at the single Berthierville facility with an e-commerce channel for memorial product sales. Customer acquisition relies on a bilingual (French/English) website, toll-free and local phone lines, and a Quebec-wide veterinary referral network that channels pet owners to Incimal at the point of loss. Revenue streams include one-time cremation service fees, memorial product sales, and prearrangement contracts. The company is led by owner-operator Katy Loiselle with a team of approximately 5 employees and has operated continuously without external funding since founding.
