What Bodhi Dog does
Bodhi Dog is a privately-held, family-owned pet care brand headquartered in Austin, Texas, with a customer-service mailing address in Georgetown, Texas. The company designs, sources, and sells a horizontal catalog of plant-based and cruelty-free pet care products covering grooming and bath (shampoos, conditioners, waterless shampoos, brushes, wipes), training aids (potty training sprays, anti-chew bitters, marking deterrents), dental care (toothbrushes, breath freshener spray, water additive), odor control (carpet powders, litter deodorizers, skunk odor removers), waste cleanup (pooper scoopers, bags), and absorbent hygiene products (disposable male wraps and female diapers). Products rely on natural and organic input chemistries — aloe vera, jojoba oil, oatmeal, eucalyptus, lavender, and enzyme-based odor counteractants — and several SKUs are USDA-certified organic or alcohol-free for sensitive-skin pets.
The business operates three concurrent revenue channels: direct-to-consumer e-commerce via a Shopify storefront on thebodhidog.com that supports one-time purchases and a subscribe-and-save program with 10% off and configurable delivery cadences; marketplace retail through a dedicated Amazon storefront; and a B2B wholesale program offering case-quantity pricing to pet retailers and bulk/corporate gifting buyers. Pricing is roughly $5 (gift cards) to $50+ per SKU, with bulk packs at higher unit prices. Marketing is multi-channel — email newsletter capture, organic social across Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube, an ambassador/affiliate program operated on the Dovetale platform, and earned media placements in outlets including BuzzFeed, Oprah Magazine (2018), CNN Underscored (2020), Country Living, PetSide, Canine Journal, and Retrievist by AKC, alongside Family Choice Awards. Bodhi Dog reports 1–10 employees and no external funding, M&A, or institutional investors, making it a bootstrapped founder-led micro-brand.
