What Creative Design Construction Home Services Inc. does

Creative Design Construction & Remodeling, Inc. is a privately-held design-build residential remodeling firm incorporated in 1988 and headquartered in Northvale, New Jersey. The company serves homeowners in Bergen County, NJ and Rockland County, NY, offering kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, basement finishing, home additions, whole house renovations, family and great rooms, interior details, outdoor living spaces, and custom cabinetry. Project scope ranges from mid-to-upper-tier bathroom renovations ($10K-$35K) to deluxe full-gut bathroom remodels ($30K-$100K), with kitchen and whole-house projects typically at the higher end. Revenue is generated on a project-based, one-time fee structure tied to scope, materials, and labor.

The firm operates an integrated design-build delivery model that combines in-house design teams, build teams, a custom cabinet department, and an award-winning showroom at 204 Livingston St., Northvale, NJ, providing a single point of accountability from concept through completion. Glen Lumia serves as President and CEO. Distribution is sales-led: a direct showroom, field sales for on-site consultations, and a sustained presence on the Houzz platform (awarded Best of Houzz every year from 2014 through 2020) form the customer acquisition backbone. The company has accumulated industry recognition across multiple regional and national bodies, including NJBA Sales and Marketing Awards (2014-2019), the 2020 Chrysalis Awards for Remodeling Excellence, and features in Good Housekeeping, Design NJ, Bergen Magazine, and Qualified Remodeler.

The business operates with 11-50 employees and is privately held with no disclosed funding rounds, investors, or M&A activity. There are no subsidiaries, no disclosed partnerships, and no announced geographic expansion beyond the two counties served. The technology stack is described as not applicable, with no AI/ML capabilities, patents, or proprietary software disclosed. The competitive position rests on 30+ years of operating history, integrated service delivery, in-house cabinetry, and a sustained regional brand reputation.

Others

• Sweeten: NYC-area marketplace that matches homeowners with vetted general contractors and design-build remodelers. Not a direct competitor, but an adjacent channel that competes with Creative Design Construction for homeowner leads in the broader NY metro area.
• Chrysalis Awards: Industry awards program recognizing remodeling excellence nationwide. Not a peer, but a benchmarking program whose winners (including Creative Design Construction in 2020) define the competitive set of top-tier U.S. design-build remodelers.

Direct peers

• Neil Kelly Company: Long-standing Pacific Northwest design-build remodeler offering integrated design, build, and home performance services. Comparable in operating model (in-house design + build) and brand longevity, though larger and geographically distinct.
• Thompson Remodeling: New Jersey design-build remodeling firm serving similar Bergen County suburbs. Comparable in offering turnkey design-build services for kitchens, baths, and additions at the mid-to-upper price tier.
• Almar Building & Remodeling: New Jersey-based design-build residential remodeler offering kitchens, baths, additions, and whole-home renovations. Closely comparable to Creative Design Construction in geography, service mix, and design-build delivery model.
• J.H. Cumming & Sons Construction: New Jersey custom home builder and remodeler offering design-build services for renovations and additions. Comparable in craft-luxury positioning and regional Mid-Atlantic market focus.

Broad incumbents

• Power Home Remodeling: Large-scale national home remodeling company offering exterior, windows, roofing, and interiors. Overlaps in scope and customer type but at much greater scale and with a centralized, sales-driven go-to-market model.
• Bath Fitter: National franchise specializing in bathroom remodels, particularly acrylic tub/shower liners and surrounds. Overlaps with Creative Design Construction's bathroom business but operates a productized, faster-install model rather than full design-build.
• Re-Bath: National bathroom remodeling franchise with a much larger footprint and broader marketing budget. Competes with Creative Design Construction in the bathroom remodel segment, but is a scaled, franchise-driven incumbent rather than a single-market design-build specialist.

Regional players

• S.W. Krulish Construction: New Jersey custom home builder and remodeler specializing in design-driven renovations. Comparable in offering award-quality design-build work but primarily serving the Jersey Shore rather than the Bergen/Rockland corridor.
