What Drain Surgeons does
Drain Surgeons is a local plumbing contractor operating as a division of Quest Mechanical Contractors, serving residential homeowners and commercial businesses across Utah County, South Salt Lake County, and Wasatch County (including Heber City) within a 45-mile radius of Provo, UT. The company's service portfolio centers on five core offerings — drain cleaning, garbage disposal services, water heater repair/replacement (including tankless), pipe repair, and kitchen/bathroom remodel plumbing — supplemented by commercial plumbing (with 24/7 emergency availability) and specialty services such as pressure jetting, sewer camera inspections, and root treatment. It also resells and installs add-on products including Flo by Moen smart water monitoring systems and Elkay drinking fountains/chilled bottle fillers.
The underlying technology stack is conventional trade equipment — 25ft to 100ft drain machines, pressure jetting units, and camera inspection systems — rather than proprietary platforms. The business is owner-operated by Kevin, a second-generation master plumber with 40+ years of experience, and his wife Shar (office manager), supported by a small team of two journeymen plumbers (8 and 11 years' experience), a dispatcher, and an apprentice. Differentiators emphasized in the company's positioning include a no-commission pay structure (intended to limit upselling), full employee vetting (background checks, drug tests), free estimates, BBB accreditation, and continuing education across the technician base. GTM is direct-to-consumer via phone/text intake, on-site field service, organic content marketing (blog and social), word-of-mouth referrals, and community sponsorship (8-year Fiesta Days Rodeo Royalty sponsor). Pricing is quote-based and not publicly disclosed, with revenue derived entirely from professional service fees on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Direct peers
- 1-800-Plumber + Air: National plumbing franchise offering residential and light commercial plumbing services including drain cleaning and water heater work. Competes for the same homeowner customer as Drain Surgeons in many metros.

- Mr. Rooter Plumbing: National plumbing franchise offering residential and commercial drain cleaning, water heater, and pipe repair services. Directly comparable service mix and SMB/residential customer base to Drain Surgeons.
