What Overlander Mountain Lodge does

Overlander Mountain Lodge is a privately held, independent mountain resort founded in 1962 (main lodge built 1967) and headquartered on Highway 16 in Jasper East, Alberta, at the eastern edge of Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rockies. The company operates 41 accommodation units spanning lodge rooms, cabin rooms, pet-friendly kitchenettes, and 2- and 3-bedroom vacation rental homes/chalets, generating revenue primarily from nightly and mid-term stays. Ancillary revenue streams include on-site dining at Stone Peak Restaurant (a farm-to-table venue with a 10-consecutive-year Wine Spectator Award of Excellence and a user-voted 'Alberta's Best Patio' recognition), full-service weddings and corporate events using the Miette Meeting Room and outdoor patio, and packaged offerings (Mountain Getaway, Deluxe Mountain Getaway, March Madness, Stay and Play Golf, Stay and Ski). The company also operates small ancillary lines including on-site beekeeping (six hives in partnership with Greidanus Honeymill) producing proprietary local honey sold at the related Jasper East Cabins general store.

The underlying technology stack is conventional hospitality SaaS: Cloudbeds for online reservation management and OpenTable for Stone Peak Restaurant table bookings. Distribution is direct-to-consumer via the company website and phone (1-780-866-2330), supplemented by third-party online travel agencies and a dedicated group/wedding inquiry process. The go-to-market motion is content-led, with a 50+ article blog covering hiking, wildlife, dining, and wedding topics to attract organic search traffic, complemented by email newsletter capture and organic social/SEO. The customer base is diversified across couples on romantic getaways, families and multi-generational groups, wedding parties, outdoor enthusiasts, golfers, corporate retreats, and extended-stay travelers. The company owns and operates two adjacent properties — Jasper East Cabins (opened 2016) and the incoming Jasper East Hostel (Spring 2025) — forming a multi-tier destination cluster in the Jasper East micro-market alongside partner Folding Mountain Brewery. Headcount stands at 20 employees, and no venture, private equity, or institutional capital is disclosed.
