What Shop Planterior Ltd. does

Planterior is a Wichita, Kansas-based biophilic design company founded in 2023 that designs, builds, and installs custom preserved moss walls and provides interior plant styling for homes, offices, events, and commercial spaces. The core technology is preserved moss — natural plant material treated to retain its appearance while requiring no water, sunlight, or ongoing maintenance, with a stated lifespan of more than 10 years. The company offers two primary service lines: custom preserved moss installations (including branded logo walls, reception features, photo backdrops, and large-scale installations) and interior plant styling, where plants are selected based on site-specific lighting, humidity, and maintenance conditions and delivered with pots, installation, and care instructions. Ancillary revenue lines include freestanding moss backdrop rentals for events in two sizes (8ft x 6ft and 8ft x 10ft), pre-made moss art pieces sold at the partner retail location GROW Plant Bar in downtown Wichita, and a complimentary Moss Wall Resource Kit for design professionals in the Wichita area.

The business operates on a project-based, consultative sales model. Prospective clients submit inquiries via the Planterior website and receive a 2-3 business day review and consultation; pricing is quote-based and not publicly disclosed. Planterior serves residential homeowners, commercial businesses (offices, lobbies, reception areas), event planners and venues, and architects and interior designers, with primary segments being residential and commercial customers. The company is co-owned by Heather Giesen (also CEO and founder of GROW Giesen Plant Shop & Botanic), Slade Giesen, and Hannah Critchlow (Head of Design/Artist), and operates across Wichita, Kansas City, and Oklahoma City. Distribution is direct (consultative sales), supplemented by a single retail partner (GROW Plant Bar), event rental delivery, design professional referrals, workshops hosted at Botanica Wichita and GROW Plant Bar, and earned media via a KAKE News segment. There is no disclosed external funding; the company appears bootstrapped and founder-financed.

Regional players

Broad incumbents

• Ambius: Ambius is the largest North American interior landscaping and plantscaping provider, offering live plants, preserved moss walls, and holiday décor for commercial offices and venues. It competes head-on with Planterior's commercial moss installation and interior plant styling services but operates at far greater scale across hundreds of branches.

Direct peers

• Planterra: Planterra is an interiorscaping company offering live plants, moss walls, and biophilic design for corporate, healthcare, and event clients. It is the closest large-scale peer to Planterior because it combines custom moss installations with full-service interior plant design and maintenance contracts for commercial spaces.
• Interior Plantscaping Services: Interior Plantscaping Services is a family-owned interior plant installation and maintenance firm serving commercial offices in the Midwest. It overlaps with Planterior's Wichita/KC region and its plant-selection, delivery, installation, and care model for offices and commercial buildings.
• Planted Design: Planted Design is a biophilic design firm offering custom moss walls, living plant installations, and plant rentals for offices, hotels, events, and homes. It is directly comparable in services, target customers, and design-forward consultative GTM.

Emerging players

• The Sill: The Sill is a direct-to-consumer houseplant retailer offering plants, planters, and plant-care subscriptions plus commercial office plant design services. It is comparable to Planterior in the residential plant styling vertical and in the retail plug-and-play décor use case.
• Moss Pure: Moss Pure is a preserved moss wall specialist producing modular and custom moss installations for residential and commercial interiors. It competes most directly with Planterior's preserved moss core offering but lacks the interior plant styling and event rental layers.

Others

• Botanica Interior Plantcare: Botanica Interior Plantcare is a biophilic plant design and installation firm specializing in living walls and office greenery. It is adjacent to Planterior's preserved moss offering because it focuses on living (rather than preserved) wall systems for the same commercial office vertical.
