What abacus plumbing does
Abacus Plumbing, Air Conditioning & Electrical is a multi-trade residential and commercial home services company founded in 2003 by Alan O'Neill in Austin, Texas. The firm provides plumbing, HVAC, electrical, drain and sewer, and water quality services across the Austin and Houston metropolitan areas, serving residential homeowners as its primary customer base alongside a smaller commercial segment. The legal entity is NEW ABACUS, LLC, incorporated in Delaware, and the company operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Wrench Group, LLC, a diversified home services holding company headquartered in Sarasota, Florida.
The company's core service portfolio spans five inter-related trades: Plumbing (repairs, water heaters, slab-leak detection, repiping, gas-line service, plumbing inspections); AC & Heating (air conditioning and heating repair, replacement, tune-ups, attic insulation, indoor air quality); Electrical (panel replacement, Generac backup generators, surge protection, rewiring, GFCI and LED lighting installations); Drain & Sewer (cleaning, hydro-jetting, BioOne drain maintenance, under-slab plumbing); and Water Quality (softeners, reverse osmosis, carbon filtration). Underlying technology is operational rather than product-software-driven, comprising GPS-equipped fully stocked service trucks, an online scheduling platform, SMS messaging, a VIP membership portal, and a branded smart product called the iFLO Pro AC Drain Line Cleaner. No proprietary AI/ML platform, patented technology, or third-party integrations are disclosed.
Revenue is generated through three primary streams: quote-based on-demand service fees for one-time repair and installation work; equipment sales and installations (water heaters, AC units, generators, electrical panels) supported by financing options including zero-down HVAC financing and water-heater financing starting at $2,299; and the VIP All In One Membership, a recurring subscription bundling Club (plumbing), BAM (HVAC), and AMP (electrical) maintenance programs with service discounts and priority scheduling. The company operates three disclosed locations (two in Austin, one in Houston) and reaches customers through phone (24/7), online booking, and field service delivery. Marketing combines SEO, a 100+ post content blog, local sponsorships, PR on regional TV outlets, and profiles on consumer review platforms including Angie's List, BBB, Home Advisor, Best Pick Reports, and Nextdoor.
