Alternating Currents

What Alternating Currents does

Alternating Currents Electric Plumbing & Sewer is a family-owned local trade services company founded in 1994 and headquartered at 695 Arboretum Rd., Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The company provides licensed electrical, plumbing, sewer, generator, and EV charger services to residential and commercial customers, with 24/7/365 availability across approximately 15 DuPage County suburbs in the Chicagoland area. It is now part of the 24/7 Services Inc. family of brands, a network of local service businesses that provides cross-referral and shared capabilities while preserving local branding and ownership.

The service mix spans five core lines: (1) commercial and residential electrical installation, repair, and troubleshooting (including 3-phase panels, buildouts, lighting, low-voltage wiring, and code-compliance work); (2) Generac generator sales, installation, and annual maintenance as a Generac Authorized dealer; (3) EV charger installation as a Certified State of Illinois EV Charging Station Installer across Tesla, ClipperCreek, ChargePoint, and Electrum hardware; (4) plumbing and sewer services (drain cleaning, sewer rodding, sewer lining, water heaters, sump pump service); and (5) financing through the GreenSky Program (12.99% fixed for 12 months, up to 120-month terms), a Free Second Opinion service, and the Care Club maintenance program.

The business model is professional services plus hardware resale: revenue is generated through per-job labor and materials charges for electrical and plumbing work, hardware margin on Generac generators, and recurring service contracts on generator maintenance. Customer acquisition is direct-to-consumer via the website (15+ city-specific SEO landing pages), phone, and local community channels including Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce membership. The customer book is highly diversified across residential homeowners and a long tail of local SMBs (restaurants, healthcare practices, retail, religious, automotive, professional services), with no single anchor customer. The firm operates with 11-50 employees, has no disclosed outside funding, and has not undertaken material acquisitions.
