Wests Scarborough Rugby Union Club Inc.

What Wests Scarborough Rugby Union Club Inc. does

Wests Scarborough Rugby Union Club Inc. is a community rugby union club incorporated in Western Australia, operating from Bennett Park in Doubleview, Perth. The club fields 5 senior men's teams (Premier Grade, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, Warriors/4th Grade, and Colts/Under-20s), a women's team competing at senior and junior (U14, U17) levels with representation in the State Women's Super W competition, and 12 junior teams covering age groups from U7 through U18. Players register through Rugby Xplorer's centralized platform, and the club is governed by separate volunteer-led seniors and juniors committees. The club is the only rugby club in the corridor from Swanbourne to Joondalup, with more than 50% of its members residing within City of Stirling boundaries.

The club's business model combines three revenue streams: membership/registration fees (subscription-style, recurring annually), a multi-tiered sponsorship program (Principal, Gold, Maroon, Club, and Business tiers), and merchandise sales through O'Neills (the 'Boar Store'). Sponsors include Andvare (Principal), Ausdrill, B Strata Management, Morley Orthodontic Centre, and WA Insurance Builders (Gold), with additional Maroon, Club, and Business tier sponsors across mining, insurance, construction, and consumer services. Facilities comprise two full-sized floodlit pitches, four player and two referee changerooms, a fully licensed clubhouse with bar and function space, and a large screen for televised rugby.

The club was originally formed as Western Suburbs Rugby Union Club in the 1930s, with its first premiership in 1932; it was reformed in 1950, renamed Wests Subiaco in 2000, and relocated to Bennett Park in 2013 under its current name. It has won 14 first-grade premierships including four consecutive titles (2003-2006) and back-to-back wins (2016-2017), and has produced 80+ state representatives plus international players including Wallaby Bob Thompson and current Western Force professionals Pek Cowan, Semisi Masirewa, and Kane Koteka.
