Berkhamsted Cricket Club

What Berkhamsted Cricket Club does

Berkhamsted Cricket Club is a community amateur cricket club founded in 1875 and based in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. It operates more than 10 competitive teams across men's (1st XI through 5th XI, T20 XI, Sunday XI and Sunday 2nd XI), women's (Women's 1st XI and Women's 2nd XI), and junior squads (boys and girls), competing in the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League, Hertfordshire Junior Cricket Leagues, and Home Counties Women's Cricket League. The club runs structured coaching programs, summer camps (booked via the Joinin platform), and maintains a clubhouse with bar and kitchen facilities managed by Mad Squirrel Brewery under a private hire arrangement.

The club's technology stack is built on the Hitssports.com platform, which powers the website, membership management, fixture scheduling, statistics, and a companion mobile app available on iOS and Android. Play Cricket serves as the official ECB-affiliated platform for results and statistics. Operational governance is volunteer-led, with a chairman (Julian Dent), club captain (David Smith), membership secretaries, and named contacts for junior (Mark Lewarne) and adult (Peter Dudley) membership handling administration.

Revenue is generated through four streams: recurring membership subscriptions for adult and junior players, tiered sponsorship (senior, women's, junior, T20, and ball sponsors including local businesses such as Our Garden Room, Ashtons, Harrowell & Atkins, and national brands such as Taylor Wimpey), clubhouse hire managed by Mad Squirrel Brewery, and seasonal summer camps. The club is a member of Berkhamsted Sports Grounds and operates under the governance framework of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Hertfordshire Cricket.

Broad incumbents
